Don't Focus on Failure

Internal defeat is a state of mind, where you begin to believe that most new ideas will fail. You might think -After all, what I tried in last week's Yoga class, failed.

You will always learn from mistakes. When you see them clearly as a test, examine the results, and study them closely for the reason why they went wrong.

Whether it is a lesson plan, trying mantras, hot Yoga, gentle Yoga, a pro shop, or trying anything new, it is better to make mistakes than do nothing at all.

Some of the most successful Yoga teachers, I know, deal with mistakes as part of the learning curve. They turn all of their defeats into learning experiences. This is extremely powerful when you consider the cost of learning anything of value.

after all, what did you spend on your education, so far? Did you think you would stop learning at a certain point in life? Did you learn from your past mistakes? Of course you did, and now you are stronger due to the corrective adjustments, you have made.

When a child learns to ride a bicycle, there are plenty of falls along the way, and then the falling stops. However, even skilled adults fall off bicycles, sometimes.

So, dont take past failures personally. Put them behind you and learn from each one.

Henry Ford and the Wright Brothers had failures, but nobody seems to remember that. Just like them, you are not a failure, but you may have failed in the past, just like they did. When you get down on yourself, look back at what you have accomplished.

When you take on your next project, do the research first, assemble a team, make a full commitment to succeed, and never mentally quit before you start.

Simple and Easy Tips - How to Throw a Tailgate Party No One Will Forget

There can be no more exciting urban outdoor activity than throwing a tailgate party. Aside from the fact that tailgate parties are casual and a lot of fun, they are relatively easy to setup. You can also add a bit of pizzazz to your parties so that your friends and families wont ever forget them. Here are some tips on how to throw a party that will dazzle your guests.

You can consider making your own invitations into a unique way. For example if you will be having a football party, you can pattern your invitation by cutting out a football shape, from a piece of brown vinyl or cardstock glued to a lighter colored paper or cardstock. Use white shoelaces or vinyl laces to create the football laces.

For great decorations, choose the materials that will match the interests for that someone special you created a party for. It could be a favorite football team, or a baseball team. Or it could be the things they love the most.

Create games that would be in accordance with the theme. If your theme for the party is about football, there are so many games and activities suited to this theme. And remember, the better prepared you are, the smoother things will move along.

The Football Toss: Each child takes a turn throwing a football through a hoop or tire or into a basket.

Football Relay course: For younger children, do simple exercises with them, jumping jacks, running, throwing a ball...For older children, design an obstacle course that includes football practice moves, more difficult callisthenics, sprints, punting...

You can try your skills at a football shaped cake, if you are a little bit artistic and a good baker. If this seems a little complicated, make a simple rectangular cake and decorate it like a football field.

On the other hand, your theme for the party is all about cheer leading, you could try these fantastic activities and games:

The Human Pyramid: Make sure to do this either on grass or a soft mat. Help the girls create a pyramid and capture the moment with lots of pictures. let them take turns in different positions.

Cheers: Get the girls lined up and teach them some simple cheers. You might even enlist the help of a high school cheerleader willing to come and teach some.

The parking lots of stadiums, traditionally, is where tailgate parties have been held. You can also setup a party in an area set aside specifically for tailgating. Some parties have been held in other parking lots with permission of course, or even closer to home - usually in the driveway.

One of the most important things to consider is food safety. Do not leave unpreserved food out for more than two hours, they may get spoiled. And because a lot of places might not have soap and water, be sure to bring anti- bacterial wipes and clean everything thoroughly before you go home. Be sure that you have lots of ice for your drinks to keep them cold and have lots of paper bags for your leftovers.

The very common dishes at parties are grilled and smoked dishes, but perhaps the most popular dish is Chili. It is easy to make.

A few other things to remember are disposable plates and utensils, napkins, condiments, salt and pepper, bottle and can openers, chairs or stools, paper towels, folding tables, and blankets.

Make sure you are allowed where you are going before throwing a party. Know what the restrictions there might be and what facilities are available. Be prepared to bring everything you might need because supplies will probably be limited.

Following these simple tips will ensure you have a great party.

Microsoft Has A Plan For The Xbox 360

In an interesting article from Fool.Com entitled Why the xbox 360 Is a Loser, author Seth Jayson points out that the xbox 360 is costing microsoft big money. The article discusses how the xbox 360 is part of a much larger plan that, if successful, will eventually lead to profits.

It is no secret; microsoft is losing money and lots of it on the xbox 360. Microsofts home-and-entertainment division has already lost $293 million on $1.57 billion in sales. And as Jayson points out, the more popular the console becomes, the greater the loss.

Make no mistake: For now, and for the foreseeable future, the Xbox 360 is going to cost microsoft money. The consoles are sold at a loss, and the costs of launching the new system will continue to grow. The more popular the xbox 360 becomes, the bigger the losses will be. commented Seth Jayson in his article.

Grooved Golf Swing Series - Always Try To Hit A Chosen Spot From The Tee, Keep That Right Elbow In

We all have trouble with our drives, making the ball land where we want it to. Would that be a fair statement?

If you asked me I would certainly say yes. So, what am I saying?

I am saying that you should try every time to land your ball on a chosen spot on the fairway.

I can hear you saying I can rarely put my ball onto a spot. Goodness, if I can get it on the fairway I am more than pleased. With this in mind, are you saying that you line up and blaze away in the general direction of the green, hoping that you will finish on the short grass?

Well, here is an adjustment to any thoughts along these lines. On every shot, even if you think you cant, try your best to hit your chosen spot on the fairway.

There are mental and physical reasons for this.

First, the more care you take mentally to hit your target, the more this will have an effect on your physical game.

I mean, your lining up, your care in lining up your club head so that it hits the ball with a square club face, and your own personal placement of your feet and the line of your shoulders.

In other words, how you yourself align your body.

If you pay enormous attention to the mental and the physical aspects as described, there will be a much greater chance of hitting your ball to your chosen spot on the fairway.

This is a step forward. Your next shot must have a clear passage way to the green and if you can place your ball in a position to achieve this, you are playing better golf.

This means a lower score and a lower handicap.

Now once you are lined up, all you have to do is take your club back and hit your ball.

Next a little reminder on the basics of the swing. As I have said before, set up with your head over your right knee (right handers) and leave it there. Yes, leave it there during the whole swing. This will keep your head behind the ball and prevent it coming forward on the down swing resulting in a hook.

Now turn your chest to the right taking your arms with it.

Place your left shoulder under your chin with a final turn of your shoulders, taking your club to the horizontal. Now on the down swing, here is something your may not have heard of.

All this talk of hitting from in to out. It certainly takes some doing. hitting from out to in is a no no. Lost your yet? I got lost too.

My coach used to place a tee at an angle of 30 degrees to the flight of the ball and tell me to move my club face in the direction of the tee. Talk about double Dutch. Utter confusion. I just couldnt get the mental picture or do as I was told. It was impossible.

The trouble was that the coach didnt understand the principles of what he was trying to teach me.

He should have paid more attention to keeping my right elbow tucked into my side. A flying right elbow plays havoc with your ball flight doesnt it?

Actually, I am convinced that most shanks are caused by a right elbow leaving the side just a bit. Think about it. I think you will agree. The whole thing moves the club head forward towards the ball.

Here is what you do. The first part of your down swing should be a simple short movement down where the butt of your club is pointed at the ball. There is only one way you can do this - by tucking your right elbow into your side. It is fool proof.

This move takes care of the movement of your left hip. It makes it go up and back. This is what it should do.

However, dont try to do this or you will have all sorts of problems. The simple movement of pointing the butt of your club at the ball takes care of all the complicated movements described in so many books.

Some one said to me that the whoosh of the club starts here and not at the top.

Have a look at hitting from the top. It is a devil of a job keeping your elbow in. It is more likely to move away from your body causing you to hit from out to in.

So much for the in to out and the out to in. All it means is keeping your right elbow tucked in to your side, and the only foolproof way to do this is to point the butt of your grip towards the ball as the first part of your down swing.

To get the hang of this, I suggest you practice this movement in isolation (without the rest of the swing) until it becomes second nature and then incorporate it into your swing.

FA Cup Third Round - Oppose Premiership Teams Away

The so-called "gulf" between teams from premiership and those striving to join the elite from the championship is often noted, especially when teams from their respective divisions clash in cup competitions.

However, this "gulf" may be nothing more than a fallacy. When the third round of the FA cup comes around, championship teams rewarded with a home tie against premiership opposition often make a mockery of their respective league positions.

Clashes of this nature have not occurred very often during the third round in recent years, although last season, eight matches fell into this category, with the "superior" premiership teams winning just twice.

Gastric Bypass Surgery For Trimming Body Fat

Exercise and a healthy, nutritious diet should be on everyone's daily routine, which can serve as the first line of defense against several ailments. But many patients wake up to the perils of obesity fairly late when their excessive weight has led them to a series of complaints including diabetes and coronary disorders. They get easily dispirited, especially when faced with the rigors of the demanding exercise and diet regimens that won't give them the fast results they desire, and turn in for gastric bypass surgery.

But is gastric bypass surgery the magic bullet that can provide permanent freedom from the extra pounds?

The bypass surgery, or for that matter any bariatric surgery, is not a quick-fix. As the surgery carries its own risk, the surgery is not for all, but only for those morbidly obese persons whose BMI has crossed 40 and who cannot achieve significant weight through diet and exercise alone. It can be successful only for those who are disciplined and committed to the prescribed diet. People who suffer from depression, bipolar disease, or schizophrenia should consult and be under the care of a psychiatrist before gastric bypass, as weight loss can worsen these conditions.

How the gastric bypass surgery works is simple. The stomach is cut high up so that it is divided into two parts - a small upper part, a one 1 oz pouch, and a large lower part a 39 oz bypassed part. Three rows of staples secure the two pieces so that most of the time they don't leak. The pouch is then connected to the small intestines bypassing duodenum and part of the intestines (jejunum). The larger lower part of the stomach is just left lying idle. So you end up with a small stomach and a shorter intestines. This means that you will feel full more quickly and that you will absorb less of the food actually eaten (because of the shorter bowel). food flows directly into the middle section of your small intestine, limiting absorption of calories.

You can begin regular activity within 4 to 6 weeks after your gastric bypass. You should be pain-free after 10 days or so. Fatigue is common, and can last from 3 to 4 weeks after your gastric bypass. The surgery alters your digestive system to make it impossible for you to eat much food at one sitting without suffering unpleasant side effects such as 'dumping syndrome' or rapid gastric emptying, which occurs when the undigested contents of your stomach are "dumped" into your small intestine too rapidly. Common symptoms include abdominal cramps and nausea .This digestive side effect acts as a brake on calorie intake, and can lead to significant loss of weight within 2 years after surgery.

Almost every gastric bypass patient suffers hair loss and hair thinning during the first six months. Once your weight stabilizes and you consume more protein, the hair will grow back. Hair treatments and permanents should be avoided.

Gastric bypass is a success when half of extra weight is lost and the loss is persistent for up to five years. The risk of mortality with a gastric bypass is about 1 in 100. Though the surgery is generally safe, it can lead to serious and potentially fatal complications. In a gastric bypass, the stitches and staples that help to bypass lower part of the stomach and reconnect to the intestines have the potential to tear in the first few weeks after surgery. This can lead to peritonitis and acid leak and bleeding. Intestinal blockage, due to scar tissue or intestinal twisting, is a possibility. The pouch may get stretched, with the result appetite may return and result in some patients' regaining 10 to 30 pounds of lost weight.

Since the operation causes food to bypass areas of the small intestine that are responsible for absorbing protein, calcium, and certain vitamins, nutritional deficiencies may occur. In addition, less iron is absorbed because of the small size of the new stomach pouch. So you will need to take daily vitamin and mineral supplements everyday for the rest of your life, including a multivitamin, calcium, vitamin B12, and iron. You will also need to increase the proportion of protein in your diet, since you'll be eating less food overall. Blood tests must be performed every three months for the first year to check your nutritional status.

Revision surgery is required in about 10 to 20 percent of patients, usually to correct abdominal hernias or pouch stretching and narrowing. Though technically reversing the surgery is possible, it is advised only under exceptional circumstances. The complications of gastric bypass surgery must be carefully weighed in consultation with the doctors before making the decision to undergo surgery.

Once the decision has been made, simultaneously build up the determination to follow the doctor's recommendation regarding diet and exercise. Yes, you can shed the extra pounds. And the low self image.
